Feature and Follow #24

Gain New Blog Followers

This is a weekly blog hop hosted by the wonderful Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Today's question is:

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

That's a hard question. But I would say that sometimes when I read books the female narrators are annoying in their behavior and in the things they say, or gets angry over petty stuff that just doesn't seem sensible in the story. Also, I don't like when a story is draggy or wasted on describing too much. Not that it should be rushed but sometimes too much details is overwhelming. That's just me, though.

How about you?

  1. Yes, I don't like it when it's too descriptive that ends up dragging the story either.

  2. I can't stand when they describe the same thing, several times, in slightly different ways....we get it already! ;)

  3. That's a really good answer, Shane! Totally agree. Sometimes the female protagonists act so dumb, it gets annoying! I feel like telling them, "come one now, grow up, girl!". ;)

  5. Hey thanks for stopping by.
I hate that too, they're like getting all mad because their boy/vamp/werewolf/whatevs is looking at another girl but then totally ignore the big facts, like I don't know wanting to kill them or something.
There should be at least some attempt at normal-ism.

  6. I agree, too much detail just makes it boring, sometimes they just need to get to the point!!
