I tightened my grip on Mike’s hand. That meant my parents were searching for us as we stood here but they’d never find us. No one would ever know how we died, or even that we were here. Our lives would simply end. This choked me up a bit. I knew I should’ve come alone.
“Aww…don’t cry, my little uni. This will all be over soon.” He reached over to touch my cheek. Mike jumped in front of me so fast I barely saw him move. Reggie yanked his hand back and cocked his head to one side, scrutinizing Mike. “Yep, sweetheart, he’s in love. In case you were wondering.” He chuckled sarcastically and began his track around us again. Mike moved me so I was standing next to him. We resumed our motionless stance and waited, letting Reggie have his say, hoping the Kooble would realize there was a veil.

“You two have no idea how important you are. I learned quite some time ago that I needed to focus all of my attention on you, Skye. This is your thirteenth cycle. This is the important one. Rose quartz is no ordinary stone. You’ve been chosen.

About the Author
Jill Kaelin had written a few things here and there throughout her life. She used to think she’d be good at children’s books, and it wasn’t a far stretch since she worked with children every day and knew what they liked. But then Jill read the series by Stephenie Meyer, maybe you’ve heard of it…Twilight. This was the type of story Jill knew she had to write. Teenagers were her audience. It helped she had one at home to learn from.

Jill's idea didn’t come in a dream. No, she wasn't that fortunate. It happened through research. And lots of it. The only criteria Jill had was that she wanted her story to be different from everything else out there. She wanted her story to stand out. No vampires or werewolves. No witches or wizards. Unicorns were her choice. And Jill thinks the story that unfolded is definitely unique.
