Waiting on Wednesday #65: Second Chances & Salvage

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spines. This is a cool way to spotlight a upcoming release that you're anxious about, as well as checking out what other book lovers are anticipating as well. So, check out my WoW for this week:

Second Chances: Complete SeriesSecond Chances
by Jo Briggs
Release date: July 27th 2013
Publisher: Daydream Books

Synopsis via Goodreads:

Layla Keyes is back in England. Much has changed in the five years since she moved to New York to pursue a modelling career - On the outside she appears independent, self-assured and enjoying running her own successful fashion label.

On the inside she is determined to take back what she lost five years ago when misunderstandings allowed a jealous third party to manipulate and interfere in destroying her relationship with Evan Carter.

Evan Carter has spent all that time pretending to not be affected by the loss of Layla from his life.

A twist of fate brings the two back together as they are forced to share a few days alone.

Can their love be rekindled despite the secrets they still have to confess to each other?

SalvageSalvage
by Alexandra Duncan
Release date: April 1st 2014
Publisher: Greenwillow

Synopsis via Goodreads:

Ava, a teenage girl living aboard the male-dominated deep space merchant ship Parastrata, faces betrayal, banishment, and death.

Taking her fate into her own hands, she flees to the Gyre, a floating continent of garbage and scrap in the Pacific Ocean.

This is a thrilling, surprising, and thought-provoking debut novel that will appeal to fans of Across the Universe by Beth Revis, and The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood.

Why I'm Waiting

Second chances sounds pretty dramatic and I like when two people who are obviously in love end up together in spite of outsiders forces trying to keep them apart. Plus, the cover is sizzling. It just sounds like a really interesting love story with twists and secrets. As for Salvage, I also like the dramatic yet alluring cover but what kind of blurb is that? That's the reason why I hate reading book descriptions because they hardly convey what the story's all about, and Salvage is an example of that. I really want to read it all because of the futuristic aspect and the fact that it has a space concept.

What are you waiting for?

  25. I really like the cover foe 'Salvage'. I also agree, that description gives away nothing! I'm torn though. I liked 'Across the Universe' but I hated 'The Handmaid's Tale' haha. What a dilemma! Great choices :)
