Waiting on Wednesday #73: Witch Finder & A Breath of Frost

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spines. This is a cool way to spotlight a upcoming release that you're anxious about, as well as checking out what other book lovers are anticipating as well. So, check out my WoW for this week:

Witch Finder (Witch Finder, #1)Witch Finder (Book #1)
by Ruth Warburton
Release date: January 2nd 2014
Publisher: Hodder Children's Books

Synopsis via Goodreads:

London. 1880. In the slums of Spitalfields apprentice blacksmith Luke is facing initiation into the Malleus Maleficorum, the fearsome brotherhood dedicated to hunting and killing witches.

Luke’s final test is to pick a name at random from the Book of Witches, a name he must track down and kill within a month, or face death himself. Luke knows that tonight will change his life forever. But when he picks out sixteen-year-old Rosa Greenwood, Luke has no idea that his task will be harder than he could ever imagine.

A Breath of Frost (The Lovegrove Legacy, #1)

A Breath of Frost (The Lovegrove Legacy #1)
by Alyxandra Harvey
Release date: January 7th 2014
Publisher: Walker Childrens

Synopsis via Goodreads:
In 1814, three cousins-Gretchen, Emma, and Penelope-discover their unknown family lineage of witchcraft. Beyond the familiar manicured gardens and ballrooms of Regency London, a dangerous, alluring new underworld visible only to those with power is now open to the cousins.
But unbeknownst to them, by claiming their power, the three cousins have inadvertently opened the gates to the Underworld.
Now the dead, ghouls, hellhounds-and the most terrifying of all: the spirits of dark witches known as the Greymalkin Sisters-are hunting and killing young debutante witches for their powers.
And, somehow, Emma is connected to the murders...because she keeps finding the bodies.
Can the cousins unravel the clues and mystery behind their heritage and power before their gifts are stripped away ...or even worse, another witch is killed?

Why I'm Waiting

I love historical fiction and I like the witchy concept of both.Plus they have alluring covers and I'm a sucker for those. The descriptions are intriguing as well, and I simply cannot wait to discover these protagonists.

What are you waiting for?

  15. I love historical paranormal with witches mainly because back then alot of actions, outside of the norm, were labeled witchcraft. It was very difficult to be an "independent" woman. I've never heard of these two titles, but now I'm very interested. Thanks for sharing. Thanks also for visiting my WOW!
