CAN'T WAIT TO READ: Evermore (Pretty in Black #4) by Rae Hachton

13261720Release date: October 1st 2015
Publisher: Teen Pulse
Pre-order: Amazon

Synopsis via Goodreads:

I'd dreamed of becoming his vampire. When faced with death, in the last few moments of one's life, how is it possible to dream of something so beautiful that no reality, no matter how grand, would ever replace it?

In Raven in the Grave, Marcus and Eleanor were crowned Dark Prince and Princess of Nevermore, a dream come true for the two fated lovers. It was supposed to be the beginning of their dark fairytale.

Now that Ellie has made her decision to marry Marcus and become a full Evermore, a shocking revelation threatens to destroy everything they've fought for. Her mortality stands in their way. What if she cannot become immortal? What if an event, far worse than any of them ever anticipated, shatters their world irreversibly?

One last decision will have to be made: Marcus Marble must become a monster in order to destroy one.

Whatever happens, one thing is certain—the consequences will be everlasting.

This is Forever.

*No idea how many times I've talked about my love for this series or the final book on my blog, but I seriously cannot wait for the big conclusion to Marcus and Ellie's story. And at the same time, I'm sad that it is coming to an end. Still, October seems so far!!

I think it's safe to say that I will enjoy absolutely anything Rae Hachton writes. She has the ability to suck you in with her dark and hauntingly beautiful words, and Eternally was no exception. I loved it! My gosh, how do I review the story without giving too much away? Okay, here goes:

Eternally is told entirely from the POV of Heath. Loved that. I haven't read a book written with male narration in a while so that was a breath of fresh air. And I liked Heath's character, mostly because he was so flawed. As was Catherine, but I feel that it was good the book was in Heath's perceptive because he had so much more going on. Addiction being one of it. I must admit, it was weird at first to read about a character shooting up, but it was so believable. The escape that Heath got from drugs was convincing. That's how good the description was.

Okay. That painful truth aside, his character was really interesting. Funny, sarcastic, straightforward, and even though he himself didn't realize it at times, he was kind and loyal. After everything with Catherine and how annoying she was to him at first, he still stuck with her and took care of her. That was the sweetest thing he did. No matter the other entity that tried to get in the way of them getting involved with each other, Heath still stayed with her and kept her safe. Until the end.

As for Catherine, she was a pain in the ass to Heath and to me at first. But then I liked how she wanted so badly to help him with his addiction, and the fact that she had so much hope in a guy she didn't know was commendable. A lot of people would have given up on Heath but not Catherine. She believed he would change. And with her help and support, he did. He let go of the pain brought on by so many things in his life and started to believe things would get better for him. Kudos to Catherine for helping him with that because in reality, many addicts don't have a single support left in their lives.

Overall, it was a really good story. If you're a fan of Gothic novels, like me, you will enjoy this one. The plot was intriguing. I liked the eerie setting and backstory, and of course Catherine's obsession with the history of the town and Withering House. There were times I was freaked out by all the spooky stuff that took place, but that made the story even more exciting. Their longing for each other was another major seller for this book too. Their feelings were intense and definitely believable. It would have to be, because their love is something that helps drive the turn of events towards the end.

By the way, it was painful to read the ending. I was about to lose my mind because it'd hit me so hard. I really didn't want it to work out that way but there was so much build up to it that you knew things couldn't be so perfect. And this is a Rae Hachton book, so of course it would be about tortured love. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the second book and how Heath and Catherine's story will play out. I strongly hope their love will enable them to have another moment in time.

Becoming Red (The Becoming #1)

by
Released: December 5th 2012
Publisher: Raven and Black
Becoming Red (The Becoming, #1)
Synopsis via Goodreads:
‘You got me back. You always said you would.’
Ash DeMorgan, graduate, orphan, ice maiden, has long since consigned the fairytale nightmares of a troubled childhood to the realm of fantastical childish imagination.

Now, lured back to Dublin, the scene of her tragic past, Ash encounters a city pulsing under the dangerous sexual influence of a new street drug the locals call Rave. Nothing is as it seems. Ash is about to discover that her nightmares are real, ancient Irish myths are larger than life and roaming the streets of the medieval city, and she has become the prey in their erotic hunt. A step back into her past is about to become a high adrenaline race for survival.
Connal Savage, outcast, assassin, and living, breathing hunk of ancient mythology, has lived a thousand years servicing a debt of revenge. Dead inside. Until he encounters his boss’s granddaughter, an infuriating woman who threatens to lead him to hell with all his good intentions, who manages to chip away at the hard encrusted defences of a lifetime spent at war and burrow herself deep into a part of him that hasn’t breathed for centuries. He is about to discover that when it comes down to the wire, when you’re bargaining with the Grim Reaper for the life of the one you love, you will do anything...
I would love to read this one because not only does it have a bad ass cover I love that description. The plot sounds like something I'd be interested in.

What are you waiting on?

Feature and Follow #34

Gain New Blog Followers

This is a weekly blog hop hosted by the wonderful Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Today's question is:

Q: What is the last book that kept you up late into the night just to finish it?

That's easy cause I have two answers for this one. I stayed up till sunrise in order to finish the first three books in Rae Hachton's Pretty in Black series, and I did the same for Kelly Creagh's Nevermore and Enshadowed. Both series have a lot to do with dark, Gothic romance and I love such concepts, so of course I would stay up late just to finish reading them because my obsession is beyond intense :)

Guest Post: How does Marcus Marble spend Halloween?

Welcome to my stop on the Rae Hachton Raven in the Grave ARC Tour. I'm very excited for the third book so this is quite the honor. Check out my review of Raven in the Grave, and continue to Rae's deluctible guest post inspired by Marcus, and Halloween?

How does Marcus Marble celebrate Halloween?
Halloween has always held a lot of meaning for me, personally. For years, I was the monster, and there was no need to pretend to be anything else. I think the overall concept of Halloween continues to be a major part of my life as a whole. It’s like, a little bit of Halloween everyday.

Clips from Last Year:
The Meadow
After spending the entire night with him, I awoke in the meadow, a black butterfly tickling my nose. Marcus beside me, still. It was Halloween morning, and he had his arm around me. I inhaled the morning air. The sun bright in my eyes. The day brand new. When the butterfly fluttered away, I turned my head to see if Marcus was awake. He was. He gazed into my eyes.
“My birthday is only two days away, Marcus. I expect something good.”
He smiled. He took my hand and brought it to his chest. And beneath his skin I felt a faint beating in his chest. “Marcus, your heart is beating!” I exclaimed, astonished.
He shook his head. “No, Ellie. It’s trying to. You see, the more and more in love with you I fall, the less dead I feel. My body is trying to mimic human function. You give me an adrenaline rush. The feeling—it’s almost like a drug that goes way beyond an addiction.”
He rolled over on top of me, kissed me on my lips. My neck. He ran his fingers so lightly over my skin that the sensation tickled me. I laughed and rolled him over and pinned his hands to the ground and kissed him.
“Happy Halloween,” he said.
“Marcus, I’d love to stay here all day, but I have to go to school.”
“You don’t have to,” he said.

~My Review~

Heartracing romance, irresistible dark sides, and conflicting emotions. Rae's electrically charged Gothic tale returns with more intensity than ever. Are you ready for the fireworks?

Well, it seems Ms. Hachton listened to my cries for more Marcus since Black Satin because she has certainly answered. And allow me to give you a concise depiction of my feelings on the third installment in the series after getting over my silly gratification. Of course Raven in the Grave wasn't written to satisfy me, it was formulated to please the devoted fan base of Marcus Marble. At least, that's how I felt throughout the story.

In Black Satin, Marcus was absent far too long but with the empty space he left Rae gave way to other interesting characters like Walter, and readers plunged into a history lesson with Ellie discovering the truth about herself and her family. Well, in contrast to the previous book Marcus has reemerged as the sexy scene stealer he's been from start. In Raven in the Grave we're granted the chance to not only get more of his hot appeal but learn more about his past and see a different, softer side to Marcus. His love for Ellie is deeper than ever; both unraveling new things about the other and intensifying their feelings. And while I loved reading the story from Marcus' point of view, It was interesting getting inside the head of Walter as well, seeing how torn his feelings were for a particular wench. Two men, different yet similar in so many ways, especially when it came to their feelings for Ellie and their past with Jillian.

This is almost like a milestone in the story. Decisions have to be made, battles must be fought, and more importantly the truth will be unfolded. I guess you can say the third book is a bit about retribution but more so about overcoming trials. The relationship of the main characters continue to face trouble and in such times love will be tested.

Once again, I enjoyed the adventure taking place. The writing is wonderful; persuasive is hardly the word, more like extraordinary. The story's just immensely well constructed. Rae has never ceased to amaze me. And I'm itching greatly for the fourth and final chapter to a Gothic romance I so dread an ending for.

Statement from Author:
I am a big music person, I need music in order to write. But, more than that, each song on the Pretty in Black series soundtrack has more significance than just being a song on the soundtrack. Each one played an important role in the creation of the book. I want to tie each teaser into one of the songs on the soundtrack and talk about how that particular song played a role in the creation of the series/book.
But, I also want to discuss, in mini-segments the creation "Behind the Book." There was soooo much that went into each book, and I want to be able to also talk about those things.
So, this will be one big "Behind the Book."
Each Teaser will tie into one of the songs from the Book Soundtrack, as music has played Major part in the creation of this book series.
Along with the Music & Teasers, she will also discuss in mini-segments, how each song she chose played a role in the creation of the series, how the concept for the book emerged more. A Question about the book will be answered per song.
