This is a weekly blog hop hosted by the wonderful Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Today's question is:
Q: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?
Good question. I read a lot of YA fantasy so when I do step out of that genre I want to read something light, funny, contemporary but still having some romance aspect. Smart Girls Get What They Want and Loving Summer were two awesome contemporary books I read this year.
How about you?
I loved Smart Girls Get What They Want! Seriously, Contemporaries give you that nice, normal touch!

It would be great if you could stop by my Feature & Follow Friday post.

That's nice! I am way too invested in my paranormal reads to travel away from them. Although I do read a little bit of dystopian, just not a lot!

You should try something different once in a while. Thanks for stopping by Jess :)
DeleteSame here!! I love YA books! :D
ReplyDeleteCheck out MY FF
I want to read both these books. I discovered earlier this year how much I adore contempory romance. Old follower. http://jennreneeread.blogspot.com/2012/10/follow-friday-36.html
ReplyDeleteYea me too :)
DeleteSame here...lots of YA fantasy. :) When I'm up for a change, I thrown in a little adult PNR. That's how I found one of my fave series ever: The Night Huntress books by Jeaniene Frost.
ReplyDeleteI used to NEVER read contemporary novels, but I love them now. Haven't read either of your picks, but I want to. :)
You should, you might like them too. Thanks for coming by Jen.
DeleteI love YA contemp even though I do read more paranormals. Smart Girls is on my wishlist! :D

Thanks for coming by:)
DeleteI have recently started reading more Contemporary Fiction, and enjoyed a few of them. But I guess adult fiction would be where I got the most out of my usual genre...

I originally started with dystopian and paranormal, then fantasy. Now I find myself really loving contemporary romance, especially the new adult genre, and even quite a few of the adult novels. I really liked Loving Summer. I haven't read the other book, but it looks good.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big dystopian & fantasy person also, but I step out of that genre all the time. I try to keep a nice variety in my reading - all the choices are what make books so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI adore Loving Summer, glad you chose that :) Hopefully, I'll be able to read Falling for Summer (Loving Summer from the boys' POV) very soon! I think SupaGurl is hosting a tour for it Nov-Dec if you're interested (:
