Dead Silence (The Body Finder #4)

by
Expected publication: April 25th 2013
Publisher: Headline
Purchase: Amazon
Synopsis via Goodreads
Violet thought she’d made peace with her unique ability to sense the echoes of the dead and the imprints that cling to their killers…that is until she acquired an imprint of her own. Forced to carry a reminder of the horrible events of her kidnapping, Violet is more determined than ever to lead a normal life. However, the people who run the special investigative team Violet works for have no intention of letting her go.

When someone close to Violet becomes a suspect in a horrific murder, she finds herself pulled into a deadly hunt for a madman with an army of devoted followers. Violet has survived dangerous situations before, but she quickly discovers that protecting those closest to her is far more difficult than protecting herself.

The Body Finder series has been praised as a “delectable blend of mystery and romance” (The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books), a “fast-paced, compelling read” (ALA Booklist), and as “imaginative, convincing, and successful suspense” (Kirkus Reviews). With a perfect blend of romance, intrigue, and suspense, Dead Silence continues this gripping series, delivering unexpected twists that will keep readers guessing until the very last page.

VIOLET GIVES A TOUR OF HER HOME TOWN...

Hi! I’m Violet Ambrose (also known as THE BODY FINDER).
Those of you who know me, know that I live in Buckley, a town in Washington State where nothing much happens. Okay, well, stuff happens. Like serial killers. But other than that, it’s a pretty quiet place to grow up.
I spend most of my days here, at White River High School.
White River High School
It’s not so bad, I guess...you know, for a school.
But when I’m not in school, I like to run, and since Buckley is in the foothills of the Cascades, sometimes I get a great view of Mt. Rainier.  In the Northwest, we say, “the mountain is out” when clouds aren't obscuring it from view. My favorite days are the ones when I can see this:
Mt. Rainier
And even though I try to keep this a secret, you may have heard that I’m sorta prone to finding dead bodies. Sometimes I find them at the worst times, like when I was jet skiing with my best friend (okay, now he’s my boyfriend), Jay, and I was drawn to an echo in Lake Tapps. This is what the lake looked like that day:
Lake Tapps
As far as I know, the lake isn’t really a dumping site for serial killers.

When I’m not in school, or at the lake, one of my favorite places to hang out with my friends is at Java Hut.

Confession: Java Hut isn’t real. But in DEAD SILENCE, there’s a new hangout, a place called Wally’s Drive In, and that place is as real as it gets. Everyone in Buckley knows about Wally’s. They have the best shakes around, with different flavors listed on their sign every month.

Hope you liked the tour of my town. If you ever make it out my way, you should check out some of these places for yourself! But don’t blink, because you might just miss our little town on the way to nowhere.
