Waiting on Wednesday #45

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spines. This is a cool way to spotlight a upcoming release that you're anxious about, as well as checking out what other book lovers are anticipating as well. So, check out my WoW this week:

RedRed
by Alison Cherry
Expected Publication: October 8th 2013
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Pre-order: Amazon

Synopsis via Goodreads:
Felicity St. John has it all—loyal best friends, a hot guy, and artistic talent. And she’s right on track to win the Miss Scarlet pageant. Her perfect life is possible because of just one thing: her long, wavy, coppery red hair.

Having red hair is all that matters in Scarletville. Redheads hold all the power—and everybody knows it. That’s why Felicity is scared down to her roots when she receives an anonymous note:
I know your secret.
Because Felicity is a big fake. Her hair color comes straight out of a bottle. And if anyone discovered the truth, she’d be a social outcast faster than she could say "strawberry blond." Her mother would disown her, her friends would shun her, and her boyfriend would dump her. And forget about winning that pageant crown and the prize money that comes with it—money that would allow her to fulfill her dream of going to art school.

Felicity isn’t about to let someone blackmail her life away. But just how far is she willing to go to protect her red cred?

Prep School ConfidentialPrep School Confidential
by Kara Taylor
Expected Publication: July 30th 2013
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Pre-order: Amazon

Synopsis via Goodreads:
In this breathtaking debut that reads like Gossip Girl crossed with Twin Peaks, a Queen Bee at a blue-blooded New England prep school stumbles into a murder mystery.

Meet Anne Dowling – a fresh, original, and funny new YA heroine whose knowing, irreverent voice will remind readers of Pretty Little Liars andPrivate. Anne practically runs her exclusive prep school on New York’s Upper East Side—that is, until she burns part of it down. Accidentally. Her lawyer father decides to send his not-quite-so-innocent only daughter to a prestigious boarding school outside of Boston. Determined to reform her bad girl ways and make it back to New York, making friends at the Wheatley School is the last thing Anne cares about. There is one girl Anne is able to stand, though—her roommate Isabella. That is, until Isabella’s body is found in the woods behind the school.
Anne is convinced someone knows what happened to Isabella the night she was viciously murdered—but no one is talking. That’s when Anne starts to notice how old and creepy the Wheatley School really is. When she meets Isabella’s twin brother and learns he also thinks the school might be covering up the truth about Isabella’s death, Anne can’t help it…she starts poking around. Utilizing her lock-picking skills, unmistakable charm, and the help of a cute classmate named Brent, Anne discovers that Isabella wasn’t quite the innocent nerdy girl she pretended to be. But someone will do anything to stop Anne’s snooping around in this fast-paced, unputdownable read—even if it means framing her for Isabella’s murder.

Brianna on the BrinkBrianna on the Brink
by Nicole McInnes
Released: January 7th 2013
Publisher: Holiday House
Purchase: Amazon

Synopsis via Goodreads:
A one-night stand has life-altering consequences for popular, sixteen-year-old Brianna, who must then accept help from the one person closest to her mistake.

Why am I waiting to get lost in these books? Well, all three sound entertaining, intense, and overall, interesting. I love the plot of Red, and the mystery of Prep School, but Brianna has me yearning to find out what changed her life.

How about you, what are you waiting on?

  3. I must say that all three sounds interesting, especially Red. Red sounds really different. But the problem is high school and of course I expect a lot of drama there...I'm not sure how much I can take it. I hope you'll get to read these soon :)

  8. I'll read just about anything that takes place in a prep school, so I'm definitely looking forward to Prep School Confidential. I think Red sounds intriguing, and having been eyeing up this cover for months, but I can't help but wonder why everyone doesn't dye their hair red if that's an option. We'll see, I guess. Great picks!
