Waiting on Wednesday #90

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spines. This is a cool way to spotlight a upcoming release that you're anxious about, as well as checking out what other book lovers are anticipating as well. So, check out my WoW for this week:

IlluminaeIlluminae
by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Release date: November 4th 2014
Publisher: Knopf

Synopsis via Goodreads:

THESE BROKEN STARS co-author Amie Kaufman and STORMDANCER author Jay Kristoff's ILLUMINAE, to Melanie Cecka at Knopf Children's, in a major, pre-empt, three book deal.

Told through a dossier of hacked documents – including emails, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, graphics, and more – for what's billed as a found footage-style mashup of Battlestar Galactica and Ten Things I Hate About You, Illuminae is the story of of a young hacker and her fighter pilot ex-boyfriend who must uncover the truth about the deadly plague ravaging their fleet, the AI that should be protecting them, and the powers that be who may or may not be lying about everything.

The Circle of TwelveThe Circle of Twelve
by Maggie Hall
Release date: 2015
Publisher: Putnam

Synopsis via Goodreads:
To fight her destiny as the missing heir to a powerful and dangerous secret society, sixteen-year-old Avery West must solve an ancient puzzle in a deadly race across Europe. Forbidden love and code-breaking, masked balls and explosions, destiny and dark secrets collide in this romantic thriller, in the vein of a YA DaVinci Code.

Avery West's newfound family can shut down Prada at the Champs-Elysees when they want to shop in peace, and can just as easily order a bombing when they want to start a war.

They are part of a powerful and dangerous secret society called the Circle of Twelve, and Avery is their missing heir. If they discover who she is, some of them will want to use her as a pawn. Some will want her dead.

To thwart their plans, Avery must follow a trail of clues from the landmarks of Paris to the back alleys of Istanbul and through a web of ancient legends and lies. And unless she can stay one step ahead of beautiful, volatile Stellan, who knows she’s more than she seems, and can decide whether to trust mysterious, magnetic Jack, she may be doomed after all.

Why I'm Waiting

Both seem like really interesting sci-fi adventures that I could possibly get lost it. I haven't read anything by these authors as yet but I've heard they're great storytellers so I kind of have big expectations for these releases.

What are you waiting for?

  4. I loved everything about Illuminae until I read that it's her ex-boyfriend with whom she needs to save the world. Why can it never just be a friend? I also have a desperate desire to be part of a secret society, but I'd probably go power-crazy! Thanks for stopping by :) Two really interesting picks!
