This is a weekly blog hop hosted by the wonderful Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Today's question is:
Q: Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why?
Good question, but I don't think I've ever broken up with a series. I have read the first book in one and not moved on to the other, for example Hush, Hush, but that's because I haven't made the time to do so. Series I won't be continuing are Gilded Wings and Throne of Glass. I didn't even make it through the first books in either. I mean, both had really good writing, was just too boring and drawn out for me.
I quit Hush Hush too. Throne of Glass is on my TBR list, I heard good things about it.. I'll have to see for myself I guess:)

Yea, there's a lot of praise for throne but it didn't capture me at all.
Deletethanks for stopping by!
It's always difficutl with series, I think. Because if we read more than the first couple of books, we really get to now the characters, and expect them to behave in a certain way :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Throne of Glass, don't really know if I will, either.
Thanks for stopping by my FF post earlier Shane :) Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteAw, sorry you didn;t get along with ToG. I haven't read the other but might try but then again, might not
ReplyDeletelol we'll see.
Deletethanks for stopping by!
I quite liked Hush, Hush, but only the first two books. the last two weren't as good, but at least I got around to finishing! :) I never read the other two series on there. Great post! :) I'm a new follower :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for following :)
DeleteI read all of the Hush Hush books, but the series didn't really appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteNew follower, check out my FF at www.myviewpointonbooks.blogspot.com
Agree!
DeleteThanks for following :)
I've been wanting to try Throne of Glass but keep putting it off.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by :) Following you
I'm not sure how you'll feel towards it but i just couldn't enjoy the story at all. But like i said, its great writing.
DeleteThanks for coming over :)
Thanks for commenting on my FF post. I've read Hush, Hush and I can see why someone would dump it (though I finished it heh). At which book did you stop? It was weird. The end was weird. The whole thing was just weird. I haven't read Throne of Glass, but I'm intending to, soon. I'll be more wary of the series now that you've warned me. ;)

I started with Hush, Hush and stopped at Hush, Hush lol maybe someday i'll continue the series but won't do the same for Throne of Glass or Illuminate.
DeleteThanks for coming by as well :)
I have read so many book 1's in series and just stopped there. Better to quit while you're ahead. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!

DeleteI don't know about Illuminate, but I liked Throne of Glass. High fantasy is SO my thing. And know I have Crown of Midnight! I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you :\

Yea, i guess its not for everybody but glad you like it.

See lots of Hush, Hush going around. That's one I did like, maybe not love--although I probably loved the first book--but still enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteThese are two series I didn't read myself. Throne of Glass got a lot of hype but I just wasn't intrigued with the storyline. The other is the same as well, looked into it and wasn't wowed enough to try it. I have too many books in my TBR mountain that I want to read that I have become more pickier about new reads (ie new authors as well) to be added to it.
Here's my Follow Friday

I have broke up with so many series.
ReplyDeleteOh jeez lol sorry about that.

Have a great weekend! :)
You too :) Thanks for coming over!
DeleteI finished the Hush, Hush series and intend to finish Gilded Wings when the third book comes out next year. I like Throne of Glass but it could be because I really LOVED the novellas that came out before ToG last year. With so many books coming out every week, it's sometimes hard to keep up with all the series. I've meant to finish C.C. Hunter's Shadow Falls but I still haven't read book four. Loved the topic :)
ReplyDeleteYea, its a nice topic to make you think about the series you start but don't finish, but then again a lot of series are still going :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Both of these are still on my TBR list, I hope I have better luck with them!
ReplyDeleteHope so too :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I liked Throne of Glass, but Illuminate was harder to get into. I heard the second book Infatuate really irritated a lot of people. Happy Friday Shane!

Ouch :)
DeleteThank you for coming over!
I didn't even think about the DNF's I've had as an answer for this one. I have had Hush, Hush on my to-read list, but I'm actually seeing this one as an answer quite a bit and am not sure that I really want to read it anymore. Thank you so much for visiting my FF. ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these series though I've been planning to read Throne of Glass for sometime now. Maybe I won't. Sorry you lost your interest though, I hate it when it happens.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF!
I haven't finished Hush, Hush either. I'm not in a hurry to either. I haven't read Throne of Glass or Illuminate.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either of those, but I do have Illuminate. The Matched trilogy was one I broke up with. After the second book, I didn't care how it ended. I'm not going to pick up the last book.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either books you mentioned, but maybe that's a good thing if they were so boring and drawn out! I'm actually sort of the opposite of you. I can't DNF a book, but I have purposely stopped reading a series before.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to read "Hush, Hush" but that's more due to lack of time and laziness than anything else. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good Friday! Thanks for stopping by Vicariously! and following me. I followed you back!
I haven't read any of those series yet, lol. I just haven't had a chance yet. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Old follower! :D
ReplyDeleteI liked Hush Hush and can't wait for the sequel of Throne of Glass. But I have to admit. It took me awhile to get the hang of Throne of Glass. Thanks for dropping by my FF, Shane! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog Shane! I haven't read either of these series yet. They are ones that are somewhere way down the TBR list. One day I'm sure I'll give them a try.
