~My Review~
This is a modern day twist on a fairy tale, but not completely modern as there were castles and royalty included. A Bite's Tale had a lovely romance and interesting concept, but I'm not sure I truly enjoyed it.
Cyndey proved to be too complacent for me. I know it must be dreadful to not have control over yourself and constantly live in fear of hurting the ones you care for, but it got to a point where I was annoyed with her self-pity. It didn't even seem like she wanted to try and change the way her life was. Her cousins had to be her daily encouragement pressing her to fight it.
Another thing that I didn't like was her judgmental nature of not only things she didn't understand, but also about the Prince and his family. She drew a conclusion based on what she heard growing up. How can one be quick to judge when she's not exactly a saint. Despite the unlikable traits of her character, I liked the love between her and Remy.
Remy on the other hand, I liked. His personality pulled me in from the start. I kind of found his idea to keep their identity a secret lame, but I got the point of it as I got to know each character. His determined nature to find his Summer love was quite admirable, and I liked the way that story ended.
In terms of the setting and premise of the novel, it was alright. I liked how even though they were going to high school and living a modern life, there was still that aspect of the story involving a royal family and a grand ball to find a future wife for the prince. That was cute.
Overall, the book was a short read but I spent a few days trying to get through all the details. Cyndey spoke too much, no offense but that's just my opinion on that. Otherwise, the story was good, but not exactly wonderful.
